Earlier this week, Shepard Fairey, the artist/illustrator best known for his unique style of poster design and creator of the classic “Obey Giant” sticker/poster campaign, announced plans to release two limited-edition, highly political screen prints—one in support of Democratic candidate Barack Obama, and another meant to motivate individuals to take part in this year’s presidential election. As if this weren’t great news by itself (an artist using his work to support, rather than criticize political process, come on!), a recent update on the Obey website suggest that the Obama screen prints are now completely sold out—just one day after the initial release!
