At this point I think it’s pretty obvious that I haven’t been keeping up too well with my new year’s resolution to write more. I’ve fallen off the wagon pretty hard! Hence the reason why at the top of the year I seldom resolve to do anything for the rest of the year. That’s just unnecessary pressure birthed by an artificial and very temporary state of mind, and no one (I especially) needs that sort of wackness looming overhead, but I digress. Truth is, I’m experiencing a bit of writer’s <strike>block</strike> anxiety. Which means that when I’m not killing posts for fun, I’m either sending them down to the developmental league (read: the draft folder), or off in the background trying to find my voice (or doubting the one that I possess) before I step to the stage (read: the WordPress control panel). In fact, I wasn’t going to write all of this here but, I desperately needed to clear out the mental backlog and make sure the “publish” button still works around here. Besides, it’s essential to write even when you don’t feel like writing. At the end of the day, I just want to be certain that my voice, my thoughts and my views are all genuine, and that I’m posting from a place of passion and conviction and not just for the hell of it. In the meantime: writer’s <strike>block</strike> anxiety…how do you personally deal?

After holding me down strong over these last four years, it looks like my iBook G4 has finally reached its end. Right now it’s in this weird, unexpected error and crash-filled state situated somewhere between having the proverbial bucket in sight and setting up for the kick and proverbial bucket kicked and now spiraling towards the iAfterlife.

The great: I now have a genuine reason, one beyond the factors of design and cool, to upgrade to a Macbook Pro.

The good: I don’t stand to lose much if this joint flat lines in the next few hours (or days) since, luckily, I backed-up my critical data to an external drive a few months ago–you tend to foresee these situations, especially if you’re constantly testing the limits of your computer in unspeakable ways.

The bad: Well, there is no bad news, actually. However, I do have a question for the Mac massive among us:

glossy or matte?

What’s goin on, folks! After a very long and unexpected stint away from blogging, I’m finally back in the commander seat here at Gureala and ready to pick things up where I left off. My apologies for staying away too long. But trust, I didn’t spend my entire time away twiddling my thumbs, feeding my media addiction via Google Reader, Twittering or wondering if I should toss my iPhone for a Blackberry Bold (at least not in that exact order…j/k).

Also, I’d like to thank everyone who nominated and voted for Gureala in the 2008 Black Weblog Awards. In case you haven’t heard, we came away with a pretty big prize: the judge’s vote for Best New Blog. That’s another reason why I had to hurry up and get back to work around here–gotta keep the momentum going.

In the meantime, stay tuned for the regular flow of updates. Peace.

This is the app that I’ve been waiting for! Full WordPress access in the palm of my hand, and all ready to go whenever and wherever I get the sudden urge to blog. Which in this case, is right now. My only complaints so far: there doesn’t seem to be a way to create hyperlinks, and there are absolutely no text formatting options (you can always add the appropriate HTML tags yourself, but that could be a bit time consuming if you’re posting on the fly). Aside from that, it feels like the same WordPress that I post from on the web. So with that said, you can expect to see a lot more mobile posts around here in the future. In the meantime, you can find more info on WordPress for iPhone here: iphone.wordpress.org
